STATESBORO – Georgia Southern softball head coach Sharon Brown announced Monday, June 29th, the hiring of Riley Ludlam as the program's assistant coach, where she will work with the Eagles' hitters.
A native of Fort Myers, Florida, Ludlam arrives in Statesboro after helping guide Dodge City Community College to one of the most successful seasons in program history in 2026.
In her first season as an assistant coach with the Conquistadors, Dodge City posted a school-record 46 victories, captured Region 6 and Plains District championships, and advanced to the NJCAA Division I World Series.
"We are excited to welcome Riley to our staff as our hitting coach," Brown said. "She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from her playing career and has the ability to mentally relate to our players while being able to physically show them. Riley will be a huge asset to our team on and off the field."
Under Ludlam's guidance, Dodge City established multiple team records, including single-season marks for hits, runs scored, RBI, doubles, triples, home runs, stolen bases and slugging percentage.
Prior to her time at Dodge City, Ludlam served as a student coach at the University of Oklahoma during the 2025 season. The Sooners finished 52-9 while claiming Southeastern Conference (SEC) regular-season and tournament championships.
Her coaching career followed an accomplished collegiate playing career that included a national championship at Oklahoma in 2024. As a graduate student with the Sooners, she appeared in 49 games and hit .318 with 21 hits, 23 runs scored and 20 RBI while helping the Sooners secure the program's eighth NCAA national title.
"Riley made an impact in her year as a player and as a student assistant at Oklahoma and she will be a great addition to the Georgia Southern coaching staff," Oklahoma softball head coach Patty Gasso said. "Seeing her work camps and being around the game I could tell that she would be suited well for coaching. Her background as a catcher and her ability to call pitches and work with hitters makes her a versatile addition to the staff."
Before transferring to Oklahoma, Ludlam was one of the Southern Conference's premier players at Furman University. She earned 2023 Southern Conference Player of the Year honors, NFCA All-South Region Third Team recognition and was a two-time All-Southern Conference First Team selection.
As a senior in 2023, Ludlam batted .372 with 10 home runs, 15 doubles and 41 RBI while posting a .676 slugging percentage. During her four-year career at Furman, she developed a reputation as one of the conference's most consistent offensive threats while excelling both behind the plate and in the infield.
Throughout her collegiate career, Ludlam was part of championship teams at every level, including conference championship squads, a national championship team at Oklahoma and a World Series participant as a coach at Dodge City.
