Eagles Fall to Georgia Tech in Road Contest

ATLANTA – The Georgia Southern Eagles (19-23, 6-9 SBC)) lost its midweek road contest to Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (27-22, 8-10 ACC), falling 8-0 in five innings.
Georgia Tech jumped to an early start scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning behind a two-run home run from Gracyn Tucker. Georgia Tech continued to apply pressure in the second, plating three more runs to extend the lead.
Despite the early deficit, Georgia Southern's pitching staff settled in, with freshman Shaylin Stringer delivering a scoreless fourth inning in relief.
At the plate, Kayla Christensen, Delanie Thames and Emma Davis each recorded a hit for the Eagles.
In the circle, Kaylee Croft took the loss, allowing three runs in 1.1 innings of work. Bailey Holland followed with 1.2 innings, surrendering five runs – only three earned – while Stringer closed out the game with a clean frame.
The Eagles will look to bounce back as it returns to conference play against the Troy Trojans at Beautiful Eagle Field this weekend.
