JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – The Georgia Southern Eagles (10-12) dropped an 8-0 contest to North Florida (24-5) on Sunday to conclude tournament play in Jacksonville.
The Ospreys built an early lead with three runs in the opening inning, highlighted by a two-RBI double that put North Florida ahead 3-0. UNF added two more runs in the third inning to extend the advantage.
Georgia Southern recorded two hits in the contest but was unable to break through offensively. The Eagles continued to battle at the plate, putting runners on base but could not generate the timely hit needed to cut into the deficit.
North Florida added two insurance runs in the sixth inning to close out the game.
The Eagles return to action Tuesday with a midweek trip to Charleston Southern before opening conference play at home against JMU.
