CONWAY, S.C. – The Georgia Southern Eagles (16-18, 4-5 SBC) capped off a dominant weekend with a dominant 10-2 victory over Coastal Carolina (18-18, 4-5 SBC) on Saturday, securing its first series sweep of the 2026 season.
The Eagles wasted no time setting the tone, capitalizing on early opportunities to jump out to a 3-0 lead in the opening inning. After putting pressure on Coastal with baserunners and forcing a defensive miscue, Carley Ramsden delivered a two-RBI single to highlight the early surge.
Georgia Southern broke the game open in the second, plating five runs on four hits to take an 8-0 advantage. Jaycee Bilbrey sparked the inning with a two-RBI single, while Emma Davis and Valerie Combs followed with RBI knocks of their own.
The Eagles' aggressive approach on the bases and ability to capitalize on Coastal errors proved pivotal in building the commanding lead.
In the circle, Kaylee Croft (2-1) delivered a steady performance, earning the win after tossing 6.2 innings while allowing just one earned run on three hits. She worked around five walks and kept Coastal off balance, limiting any chance of a comeback.
Coastal Carolina managed to get on the board in the third and fourth innings, but the Eagles' defense held firm, stranding runners and maintaining control throughout.
Georgia Southern added the finishing touch in the seventh inning when Braelyn Queen launched a two-run home run to left field, extending the lead to 10-2 and sealing the run-rule cushion. Queen finished with a game-high four RBIs and her first career homer, while Davis scored three times and reached base in all four of her plate appearances.
The Eagles totaled nine hits and drew six walks in the contest, showcasing a balanced offensive attack that proved too much for Coastal to handle. With the win, Georgia Southern not only secured the sweep but did so in convincing fashion, outscoring Coastal 26-10 across the three-game series.
