Statesboro, Ga. --- The Georgia Southern baseball team (27-25, 13-14 SBC) fell to Texas State (25-26, 13-14) by a 4-1 margin on Saturday morning (May 10th) on the final home game for Georgia Southern in the 2024-2025 academic year.

All in all, the series finale was a pitcher's duel until the end. For the Eagles, Carter DeGondea, despite his first loss of the year, would pitch a gem. In his 5.2 innings of work, the junior would allow just three hits and two runs in his 22 batters faced. The run for Texas State came in the third inning on back-to-back hits. In the sixth, a single up the middle with runners on would unfortunately give the run allowed by the next pitcher to DeGondea.

The bottom of that same inning, however, would see the Eagles score their lone run of the contest. With two runners on, Jonathan Jaime would poke a single to center field to score one and get the Eagles on the board. The Bobcats would tack on two more in the ninth for more security, which would be too much for the Eagles to overcome, falling in the series finale. 

Five different Eagles would account for their five hits on the day, with the lone RBI going to Jaime. With the series conclusion, Georgia Southern sits ahead of Texas State in the standings with their tiebreaker over the Bobcats.

Next, the Eagles have their final midweek game of the 2025 season when they hit the road to take on Kennesaw State in Marietta. First pitch against the Owls, who Southern beat 5-4 earlier in the year, is set for 6 PM this upcoming Tuesday (May 13th).
