Former Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year will play for CS Maritimo
STATESBORO - Three-time All-Sun Belt Conference women's soccer standout Sade Heinrichs has become the latest Georgia Southern player to ink a contract with a club team overseas, joining CS Maritimo in Portugal to pursue her dreams of playing professionally.
The 2022 Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year, Heinrichs finished her four-year Eagle career as one of the most decorated players in Georgia Southern history. Earned first team All-Sun Belt Conference honors for a second straight year in 2023 and is the only Georgia Southern women's soccer player to earn All-Conference honors three times in a career. The Monchengladbach, Germany, native also became Georgia Southern's first student-athlete to earn first team All-Southeast Region honors as awarded by the United Soccer Coaches and is the only two-time All-Region honoree in program history.
Heinrichs joins Isabel Kopp and Elis Nemtsov, who also signed club contracts last week to give Georgia Southern three former players competing professionally in this upcoming 2024-25 season.
"We're very excited for Sade to continue her playing career in Portugal," Georgia Southern head women's soccer coach Chris Adams said. "I am confident that she will adjust quickly and have a huge impact for her new team just like she did here at Georgia Southern. Best of luck Sade! Time to GATA!"
