Four Eagles Named To 2024 CSC Academic All-District Men's Tennis Squad

Juniors Pol del Castillo and Dimitris Paliouras earn honor for second straight year; Aaron James Williams and Matthew Mitchell earn first-time honors
STATESBORO - Georgia Southern men's tennis placed four student-athletes on the 2024 Collegiate Sports Communicators Academic All-District Tennis team, announced today by the organization.
Juniors Pol del Castillo and Dimitris Paliouras, along with sophomores Aaron James Williams and Matthew Mitchell, earned spots on the squad for maintaining at 3.50 or better GPA during the 2023-24 academic year.
Paliouras and del Castillo both earn Academic All-District honors for a second straight year after appearing on the 2022-23 squad. A native of Tarragona, Spain, del Castillo carries a 3.75 GPA in mechanical engineering and earned All-Sun Belt singles honors this season for the Eagles. Paliouras, meanwhile, carries a 3.68 GPA in information technology and the Thessaloniki, Greece, native was named the 2024 Sun Belt Player of the Year.
Williams earns his first CSC academic honor for carrying a 3.82 GPA in economics and adds the honor to his second team All-Sun Belt singles accolades this season. Mitchell, who hails from Vidalia, Ga., earns his spot on the squad for carrying a 3.96 GPA in accounting.
The four honorees are a program high for CSC Academic All-District tennis honors for the Eagles. The organization sponsored a tennis-only team for the first time last year.
