Men’s Basketball Signs Transfer Forward Tyson Brown

The senior comes over from Rhode Island after averaging 4.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and leading the Rams with 23 blocks
STATESBORO, Ga.– Georgia Southern men's basketball has signed Rhode Island transfer forward Tyson Brown, head coach Charlie Henry announced.
"We are really excited to add Tyson Brown to the men's basketball program. Adding a veteran frontcourt player was a huge priority for us this spring and we found a great fit with Tyson," Henry said. "He's hungry to make his mark in his final year of college basketball here at Georgia Southern. I'd like to thank his mother Alicia & his father Ike for their help during this process and trust in our staff. We look forward to getting Tyson here in May and getting to work with him."
Brown, a 6-9, 225 lbs. senior, comes to Statesboro after spending his junior year at Rhode Island, his first season at the Division I level.
From Virginia Beach, Va., Brown appeared in all 32 games for the Rams, starting 16, averaging 4.3 points and 4.1 rebounds. He led Rhody with 23 blocked shots.
He saved one of his best performances for one of the last games of the season, picking up his first DI double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds at Fordham (Mar. 9). He also swatted a career-best three blocks at George Mason (Mar. 6).
For the season, Brown shot 57.3 percent (55-96) overall, grabbing 132 total rebounds and averaging 0.7 blocks per game.
He arrived in Kingston by way of two different junior colleges. He was a top-100 JUCO player at Florida Southwestern, former stop of assistant coach Kente' Hart, in 2021-22, where he was named First Team All-Southern Conference during his time with the Bucs.
Brown spent his first two seasons at Western Texas CC, picking up All-WJCAC honors during his sophomore season with the Westerners.
The forward spent his prep career at Massanutten Military School in Woodstock, Va., averaging 13.7 points and 8.8 rebounds as a senior. He is the son of Alicia and Isaac Brown.
