STATESBORO – Georgia Southern softball (18-10, 2-2 SBC) used a three-run sixth inning to push past the Panthers 5-1 on Saturday afternoon at Beautiful Eagle Field.
Georgia State got on the board first in the second frame, but the Eagles responded in the bottom of the frame with a pair of runs. Back-to-back sacrifice flies from
Dejah Mills and
Courtney Ball plated the runs to put the Eagles in front 2-1.
After three scoreless innings, the Eagles extended its lead in the sixth scoring three runs on three hits and two Panther errors.
Emma Davis recorded an RBI-fielder's choice to score
Kelsey Harper and
Gracie Bellard who reached on an error and single, respectively.
Delanie Thames kept the rally going scoring Davis on an RBI-single making it 5-1.
Anslie Pettit tossed her ninth complete game of the season surrendering one run on three hits and fanning six Panther batters.
Katie Perkins, Bellard, and Davis each recorded a multi-hit performance with two hits each to lead the Eagle offense.
