STATESBORO - Georgia Southern men's tennis captured its fifth win out of its last six matches with a 6-1 win over Chattanooga on Sunday at the Wallis Tennis Center in Statesboro.

The Eagles evened their record to 7-7 overall with the victory, while Chattanooga fell to 6-9. Georgia Southern will next be in action on Friday, March 22, hosting James Madison in a 1 p.m. Sun Belt Conference match at Wallis.

Georgia Southern notched the doubles point from the Mocs with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Judson Blair and Pierre Mouesca notched a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles, then Matthew Mitchell and Aaron James Williams collected a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles.

The Eagles then delivered wins in five of six singles matches to complete the victory. The win avenged a close 4-3 loss at Chattanooga last year to the Mocs.

"What a special weekend for the guys," Georgia Southern head men's tennis coach Andrew Goodwin said about the perfect 2-0 weekend that included a Sun Belt Conference-opening win over Georgia State on Friday. "We can't thank our Alumni enough for coming out the entire weekend. What they have done, and are continuing to do for our program are some of the many reasons why I'm so confident in the direction of this program."
