Eagles Fall to Scarlet Knights, 5-2

Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 2 p.m.

STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern baseball team fell 5-2 in the series-opening game against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Friday night at J.I. Clements Stadium. The second and third games of the series will be played on Saturday in a doubleheader.

The Eagles (7-7) got on the board first in the bottom of the third inning with a solo home run over the Blue Monster by Blake Evans, the first homer of his career. Shortly after, Jarrett Brown would push an RBI-single through the left side, plating Jesse Sherrill and giving Georgia Southern a 2-0 lead.

Rutgers (5-7) would score five unanswered runs during the remainder of the contest, with an RBI-double in the top of the fourth inning, RBI-single in the top of the sixth inning, RBI-double in the top of the seventh inning, and two runs in the top of the eighth inning, scored from an dropped fly ball and a sacrifice bunt.

Ty Fisher took the loss from the game after allowing three runs, two earned, in the contest.

UP NEXT
The Eagles will look to take both games in Saturday's doubleheader, with first pitch for the first game slated for 2 p.m, with the final game of the doubleheader scheduled to begin 45 minutes after the conclusion of the first game. Tickets for the game originally scheduled for Saturday will work for both games tomorrow. If fans have single game tickets for Sunday's originally scheduled game, they are able to call in to the ticket office or visit the ticket office in person to exchange their tickets for another game this season.
