STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern baseball team is set to host the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets out of the Atlantic Coast Conference on Tuesday, February 21. First pitch between the two teams is set for 6:02 p.m. at J.I. Clements Stadium.
This is the first of two games that the two squads will face off in, with the second taking place on the campus of Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Ga., on April 4.
The Eagles and the Yellow Jackets split the season series last season when the Eagles defeated GT for its first victory of the season a year ago, a 10-6 GS victory at J.I. Clements Stadium. Georgia Tech avoided the sweep with a 13-12 victory at Russ Chandler Stadium in May.
Coming into the game, Georgia Southern holds a 2-1 two of three in the season opening series against the West Virginia Mountaineers, winning on Friday and Saturday to clinch the series. Georgia Tech hosted the RedHawks from Miami (OH) and swept them at Russ Chandler to come to Statesboro with a 3-0 record.
The Eagles will rely on the arm of RHP
Jaylen Paden (6-2, 5.30 ERA in 2022) for the contest, while the Yellow Jackets will turn to true freshman RHP Luke Schmolke. Both pitchers have already come in to pitch in relief for both teams once in their opening series.
