Women's Soccer Adds Four Freshman For 2022

Quartet of new Eagles brings the total of incoming freshman to 12 for Coach Adams' squad in 2022

STATESBORO - Georgia Southern Head Women's Soccer Coach Chris Adams rounded out his 2022 freshman recruiting class by introducing four new Eagles who will join the team this Fall.

The four new Eagles are: forward Amina Okumu (Savannah, Ga. / Savannah Country Day); forward Megan Rhonemus (Davenport, Fla. / Ridge Community HS); defender Erin Wilkins (Tacoma, Wash. / Bellarmine Preparatory) and defender Anna Wheatley (Madison, Miss.). The quartet join a group of eight freshmen announced during the early signing period.

"With these four additions, we will have twelve new freshman on campus this Fall," Coach Adams said. "It's a really exciting time to be adding this much talent and firepower to our program on the rise!"

Played for four years at Savannah Country Day School ... Earned first-team All-Region honors as a junior in 2021 and also earned second-team All-Region honors as a freshman ... Scored 26 goals and added five assists in 12 games as a senior ... Played club for Clay County United.

Coach Adams: "Amina is a very pacey forward from Clay County United who can stretch a defense and create goal scoring chances with her speed."

Megan Rhonemus WSOC Signed

Played for four years at Ridge Community HS ... Three-time 7A All-State honoree ... Three-time honoree on the Lakeland Ledger All-County squad ... Scored 14 goals and notched 17 assists as a senior ... Is the all-time career assist leader for Ridge Community HS ... Played club for Lakeland Tropics.

Coach Adams: "Megan is a forward who always seems to be in the right place at the right time. She also has an uncanny ability to score goals."

Played for four years at Bellarmine Preparatory School ... Two-time first-team All-League honoree as a junior and senior ... Notched a goal and delivered five assists as a senior ... Played club for Crossfire Premier ECNL.

Coach Adams: "Erin is an elite defender from Crossfire Premier ECNL, which is the most competitive league in the country."

Anna Wheatley WSOC Signed

Played for four years at Madison Central HS .. Twice earned Central Mississippi All-Star Team honors and was named to the 2022 Mississippi Association of Coaches All-Star Team ... Scored seven goals and notched six assists as a senior ... Played club soccer for Mississippi Rush.

Coach Adams: "Anna is an extremely versatile player from Mississippi Rush United, who can play numerous positions. She will compete for playing time as a freshman."
