QUICK HITS

  • Georgia Southern's pitching staff struck out 45 Volunteer batters on the weekend. The number is good enough for second in the country and the Eagles are the only team with 45+ strikeouts that played a quality opponent.
  • Noah Ledford looked like his usual self this past weekend, homering twice in his return to the lineup after missing all of 2020 due to an injury.
  • Hayden Harris will get the ball on Wednesday, earning his first career start on the mound. The Junior has been primarily used out of the bullpen as a setup or closer role.
  • Mason McWhorter leads all Eagles in batting average to start the 2021 season, posting a .308 average at the plate. McWhorter scored one run and drove in one RBI with his four hits.

UP NEXT
Georgia Southern will return to the friendly confines of J.I. Clements Stadium the weekend to host No. 22 East Carolina University. Last season the Eagles traveled to Greenville, N.C. and were swept by the Pirates in the snow.
