Eagles Dominate GATA Classic

STATESBORO-- The Georgia Southern cross country team dominated the GATA Classic Friday with a first place finish with all athletes taking top finishes.
Merbu Nagwandala led all runners with a 18:58.9 on the new 5k Bulloch Disc Golf course.
She was followed by three freshmen who placed second, third and fourth. Emma Peluso finished second with a time of 20:47.6, Abbey Arnett finished third with a time of 20:49.8 and Makenna Kulzer finished fourth with a time of 21:45.6.
Coastal Carolina took seventh and 11th place.
What XC coach Wes Penberthy said:
"We did a great job of going out there and competing and having a great mindset. We had a lot of improvements on last week, and now we have three weeks to get back to work. " The team will travel to Coastal Carolina for their final road meet of the season on Oct. 16.
