Quotable from head coach Chad Willis
"I'm really proud of our team today for the effort to come on the road and earn a win. The change in schedule this week forced us to switch up our process going into a single-match weekend, but I think our staff and players did a great job of preparing and focusing on our controllables, which ultimately put us in a position to come away with the win."
"We knew first contact was going to be the difference in today's match, and I thought we executed our serve and pass game at a high level. We had some really nice individual performances out there this afternoon, and again, I love the energy our bench brings. Going on the road anywhere and winning is tough, but they do a fantastic job of keeping us focused and engaged for the entire match."
"Now, we shift gears and get back to work on bringing in three quality teams to Statesboro next weekend. Our team is excited about being back in Hanner with our home fans, and we can't wait to feel that electricity."
Next up
The Eagles will host five matches in their home tournament Sept. 13-14 in Hanner Fieldhouse. GS takes on UNC Asheville (11 a.m.) and Southern Miss (6:30 p.m.) Friday and plays host to Winthrop Saturday at 1 p.m.
