SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mya Wilson posted 13 kills, three digs and a block to lead Georgia Southern to a 3-0 non-conference volleyball win over USC Upstate Saturday afternoon in the Hodge Center.

Maddie Bryant finished with 11 kills, nine digs and a pair of blocks while Carly Turner contributed 10 kills and a block. Landon Jones notched 17 digs, and Madison Brown collected 35 assists and four digs.

Stat of the match
Georgia Southern hit .239 as a team, while Wilson, Bryant and Turner combined to hit .287 with 34 kills against nine errors.

"I'm really proud of our team today for the effort to come on the road and earn a win. The change in schedule this week forced us to switch up our process going into a single-match weekend, but I think our staff and players did a great job of preparing and focusing on our controllables, which ultimately put us in a position to come away with the win."

We had some really nice individual performances out there this afternoon, and again, I love the energy our bench brings. The Eagles will host five matches in their home tournament Sept. 13-14 in Hanner Fieldhouse. GS takes on UNC Asheville (11 a.m.) and Southern Miss (6:30 p.m.) Friday and plays host to Winthrop Saturday at 1 p.m.
