
GS Women's Tennis Releases 2019-20 Schedule

STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern women's tennis team released its 2019-20 schedule Thursday complete with five contests in the fall and 25 in the spring.
The fall schedule will consist of four invitationals beginning Sept. 13- Sept. 15 at the College of Charleston Invite and concluding at the Stetson Invitational Nov. 1-3. The Eagles host the Georgia Southern Fall Shootout Oct. 11-13 in the lone home appearance of the fall.
Of the Eagles' 25 spring games, 13 will be contested at the Wallis Tennis Center in Statesboro including an 11-game stretch in the state of Georgia from Feb. 8-Mar. 18. The team will also visit the state of Florida for five contests and Texas for three. Action for the spring begins Jan. 17 against Florida A&M in Jacksonville, Florida on the campus of the University of North Florida. Conference play begins Mar. 14 with Louisiana in Statesboro and concludes with the Sun Belt Tournament April-23-25 in Peachtree City, Georgia.
In 2018-19, the women's tennis team finished 14-13, 4-6 SBC, but had a dramatic run to the 2019 Sun Belt Championship Game. The Eagles upended top-seeded and regular season champion Appalachian State, 4-3 as an eight-seed in the first round before advancing to the title match for the first time since 1986 with a 4-1 victory over four-seed UT-Arlington in the semifinals. The season came to an end in the finals with loss 4-1 loss to South Alabama.
