Georgia Southern returns to action on Thursday, hosting Florida A&M at Wallis
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Host Southern Miss collected a tight 4-3 win over visiting Georgia Southern on Saturday morning in Hattiesburg, Miss.
The host Lady Eagles improved to 6-3 on the season with the victory and 1-0 in Sun Belt action, while Georgia Southern falls to 5-6 overall and 0-2 in Sun Belt matches with the loss. Georgia Southern's scheduled Sunday morning match at South Alabama has been postponed due to expected inclement weather, so the Eagles will return to action on Thursday, March 12, hosting Florida A&M in a 10 AM contest at Wallis.
Southern Miss claimed the pivotal doubles point in the match with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles.
Each team then won three singles matches in straight sets, giving the match to the host Lady Eagles. For Georgia Southern, Evelyn Warkentin picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles; Angelina Mihajlovic notched a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles and Amelie Rosadoro earned a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles.
