Pair named to the second team as the league released its annual awards today
STATESBORO - Georgia Southern women's tennis senior Emilia Bujan and junior Arianne de Winter were named to the 2019 Sun Belt All-Conference second team in doubles, announced today by league officials.
The pair earn the honor for going 12-8 this Spring season in doubles competition, including an 11-8 mark at No. 1 doubles. They were also outstanding in Sun Belt play, sporting a 5-2 mark. This is the second straight season that de Winter has earned second-team doubles honors from the league, while Bujan earns All-Conference accolades for the first time.
"I am so happy for Emi and Ari being recognized by the Sun Belt coaches and earning this All-Conference honor," Georgia Southern Head Coach Sean McCaffrey said. "The hard work they both put in has clearly paid dividends. Anytime you can step on the court and feel confident that one of your doubles teams is a favorite to win, it makes things that much easier as a coach. As much as I am sure this recognition is something the ladies will be proud of - and they should be - I know they are super focused to continue the positive momentum they currently have into the conference tournament."
Georgia Southern is the No. 8 seed and will take on top-seeded Appalachian State in the opening round of the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Championships on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
