Baseball's Win Streak Snapped at Charleston Southern

Buccaneers take the walk-off win with a bases loaded single in the ninth

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - Georgia Southern Baseball dropped a dramatic 3-2 loss to Charleston Southern on Wednesday night in walk-off fashion. The Eagles were led by a three-hit game from Noah Searcy in the cleanup slot of the lineup. Georgia Southern is back home this weekend for a three game set against Little Rock starting on Friday night.

SCORING INNINGS
BOT 1st | GS 0 - CSU 2 | Charleston Southern got a pair of runs in the opening frame off two hits to take an early lead.
TOP 4th | GS 2 - CSU 2 | Back-to-back singles put ducks on the pond, while a pair of wild pitches moved runners up and scored one. The second came in on Noah Searcy's single through the right side.
BOT 9th | GS 2 - CSU 3 | A ground rule double down the right field line got things started for the Bucs in the ninth. An error and a walk loaded the bases for the home side. With the infield on the grass, a hard hit ball up the middle found a way through and allowed a run to score and give the Buccaneers the 3-2 win.

NOTES
- Noah Searcy had a career-high three hits in the game, leading a charge by the top of the Eagles lineup. The top four hitters in the lineup had seven of Georgia Southern's nine hits in the game.
- Joe Nahas made his first Division I start, going two innings in a controlled outing, He gave up a pair of runs off three hits.
- The Eagle bullpen was stellar in the middle innings, allowing just one hit in the third through seventh innings.
- Wednesday's game was played under testing conditions. Temperature at first pitch was just 50 degrees with temps falling throughout the game. For the majority of the contest, a fine mist fell on the field, but it was never stout enough to stop the game.

Georgia Southern will make an appearance in Savannah on April 3rd for a non-conference game against College of Charleston at Historic Grayson Stadium. The Eagles are back home this weekend for a conference series against Little Rock starting on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. Friday's game is Rec Night with special $3 tickets for recreation league teams attending the game. The game is available on True Blue TV and the Georgia Southern Sports Network.
