Women's Tennis continue on their winning streak

STATESBORO, Ga. – The Women's Tennis team is on a roll, winning big in their last three games. The Eagles defeated North Carolina A&T, 6-1, in Wallis Tennis Center today. The winning streak continues from last weekend with a win over Florida A&M University and yesterday over Mercer.

The Eagles have been soaring over opponents in doubles matches, winning all six in the past two days. Arianne De Winter, Emilia Bujan, Paige Christian and Hannah Daniel all won their sets, 6-2. Elizabeth Goines and Paula Boixader defeated Marlene Estenssoro and Kaya Ellis, 6-4, sealing in the doubles point for the Eagles.

The Eagles used that momentum from doubles and carried it over into their singles matches. Arianne De Winter started out strong in her first set over Fabiana Ramirez, winning 6-2. De Winter then fell behind in the second set, 4-6, but came back to win 1-0 (9) in the match tie breaker.

WHAT HEAD COACH SEAN MCCAFFREY SAID
"Today the team did what needed to be done in order to get the job done. For the most part the women did a very good job at finding ways to make their opponents feel uncomfortable during the match. It's been a big push in how we have approached our season so far. The goal is to concern ourselves less with how we feel and more with how we can disrupt our opponents during match play. I'm really pleased so far with how we have adapted to this mentality and fired up with how our development has been overall."

The Eagles are traveling to Wilmington, NC next Saturday, February 9th to take on the University of North Carolina Wilmington. The Eagles then head to Charleston, SC on Sunday, February 10th to play the College of Charleston.
