Cold Weather Makes For A Slow Start in Wilmington
STATESBORO, Ga. – The Women's Tennis team was on the road this weekend in the Carolinas. The Eagles fell 2-5 in the first match of the weekend after a delay due to cold weather against the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
Luisa Hrda fought hard to win her match and take down Celeste Matute 6-4, 6-4. Emilia Bujan held the match over Rishika Ravindran and won 6-0, 6-2. This win was the fourth straight win for Bujan in a row. Despite the hard work of the Eagles, they were not able to stay on top during the match against the Seahawks
Luisa Hrda and Lindsay Truscott fought hard against Celeste Matute and Sarah Horn during their set. After a battle, the girls won their doubles set 7-5. The Eagles ultimately lost the doubles point to the Seahawks.
WHAT THE COACHES SAID
"Today the girls competed well in the windy conditions. Lindsay and Louisa did a great job in doubles winning 7-5. Emi winning 6-0, 6-2 earned her fourth straight win in a row. Even though we didn't come away with the win, the girls were able to learn some valuable lessons from the match, that we look forward to implementing in our match tomorrow against College of Charleston."
