Evelyn Warkentin, Amelie Rosadoro go unbeaten in singles play to pace the Eagles

MACON, Ga. - The Georgia Southern women's tennis team excelled during the rain-shortened Mercer Gridiron Classic this weekend, hosted by Mercer University at the Randy Stephens Tennis Center in Macon.

Seven Eagles competed in singles play, paced by Evelyn Warkentin and Amelie Rosadoro, who each went 3-0 in their singles matches. All six other Eagles who competed in singles - Franzi Heinemann, Mar Hernandez, Angelina Mihajlovic, Reese Parker, Natalie Crawford and Annik Freund - went 2-1 on the weekend, giving Georgia Southern an impressive 18-6 record.

Inclement weather cut short the schedules doubles competition, limiting the Eagles to just one round of doubles for the week. Georgia Southern went 3-1 collectively in doubles.

Georgia Southern returns to action on Oct. 8-11, traveling to Miami, Fla., for the ITA Regionals, hosted by the University of Miami.
