STATESBORO – Calvin Wishart made six 3-pointers and scored a career-high 23 points to lead Georgia Southern to a 109-55 men's basketball win over Reinhardt the Eagles' home opener Friday night in Hanner Fieldhouse.

Quan Jackson collected 22 points, six rebounds and three steals, while David Viti made six triples and tallied a career-high 23 points.

Key moments
Georgia Southern (1-1) scored 18 straight points late in the first half to turn a one-point lead into a 46-27 advantage at halftime. Jackson scored eight points during the stretch, including an and-1 on a dunk over a Reinhardt player as he drew the foul. 

GS opened the second stanza with a 16-4 spurt, keyed by four 3-pointers from Wishart, including three in a row at one point. 

Georgia Southern brought back an old tradition by encouraging fans to throw toilet paper on the court after the Eagles' first bucket of the season in Hanner Fielhdouse. Jackson made a layup on the Eagles' first offensive possession, and the fans, especially the student section, obliged. GS was assessed a technical foul.

The Eagles made 19 of 36 from 3-point range, good for 52.8 percent.

Georgia Southern travels to North Florida for a 7 p.m. contest Monday before returning to Hanner for a two-game homestand. The stretch starts with a 7 p.m. contest against Radford Friday, Nov. 15.
