Ryan Blake to be Inducted into Georgia Tennis Hall of Fame

Induction ceremony will be held July 23rd in Atlanta, Georgia

STATESBORO, Ga. – On July 23rd, the Georgia Tennis Foundation will induct former Eagle, Ryan Blake, into the Georgia Tennis Hall of Fame. The ceremony will be held at the Atlantic Station's Twelve Hotel and will be in conjunction with the BB&T ATP Atlanta Open.

Ryan Blake attended Georgia Southern from 1985 to 1988, playing primarily from the No. 1 position all four years. His 55 victories place him ninth on the All-Time Wins list at Georgia Southern and his 44-27 record ranks second all-time at the No. 1 position behind Uli Wilms. During his senior season, Blake tallied a 22-6 record leading the Eagles to a 21-8 record under head coach Joe Blankenbaker.

"I am humbled to be honored by the great state of Georgia Tennis, as well as to be inducted alongside Julie Wrege who is a legend and tennis pioneer," Ryan Blake said. "I grew up admiring many of the men and women in the Hall of Fame who gave me the spark to embrace the sport I fell in love with. I learned the game in Georgia as a junior and honed my skills at Georgia Southern, which is responsible for gaining the skills and confidence to purse the game at the professional level."

Following his career at Georgia Southern, Blake spent six years on the professional tour spanning five continents. During the 1994 season, he played his way into the Australian Open, but was defeated in the round of 128 by Arnaud Boetsch of France. Blake currently is the President of Basketball Operations for Vantage Sports and a Consultant to the NBA for Scouting and Media.
