Junior twirler tosses a one-hit shutout to earn the award
NEW ORLEANS - Georgia Southern Baseball's Brian Eichhorn has been named the Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week after tossing a one-hit shutout to down Troy on Friday night. Eichhorn recorded Georgia Southern's first one-hitter since 2001 to claim his first league Pitcher of the Week award.
Eichhorn took his no-hitter bid into the seventh inning before allowing a single through the left side of the infield. He walked one and struck out nine batters en route to his second-straight complete game. The right-hander from Richmond Hill improved to 4-3 on the season with the win. In 12 starts this season, Eichhorn has produced a team-best nine quality starts.
Georgia Southern travels to Kennesaw State on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. before traveling on for a weekend series at Arkansas State beginning on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. (ET) / 6:30 p.m. (CT).
