TROY, ALA. - Georgia Southern Baseball dropped game three of the weekend series at Troy, 4-0, on Sunday. The Eagles were held to just four hits as their four-game win streak came to an end. The Eagles are back home for four games next week with Kennesaw State and Appalachian State coming to Statesboro starting on Tuesday.
SCORING PLAYS
Bot 2nd - GS 0 - TROY 1 - Troy got two runners aboard with a single and a walk, but lost an out in a failed sacrifice attempt. A phantom balk against Chase Cohen moved the runners to second and third, allowing an infield ground out to score the game's first run.
Bot 3rd - GS 0 - TROY 2 - A leadoff double in the third paid off for the Trojans in the third. A squibber to first was enough to score the run from third and extend the lead to 2-0.
Bot 6th - GS 0 - TROY 3 - A one out walk came around to score thanks to a seeing-eye double down the third base line.
Bot 8th - GS 0 - TROY 4 - The home side added a run in the eighth with a pair of two-out doubles which pushed the lead to 4-0.
GAME NOTES
- Georgia Southern was blanked for the third time this season and the second time in league play on Sunday. Their four hits was the fewest since tallying three in a win over The Citadel on March 22nd.
- Chase Cohen went six innings and worked around six hits, but was charged with all three runs on Sunday. He earned his third quality start of the season, but took the loss to fall to 2-3 on the year.
- Steven Curry went 0-for-4 on the day as his 18-game hit streak was snapped. The streak was the longest hit streak for an Eagle batter this season.
