GS Divers Compete At GT Invitational

Eagles took part in both 1-meter and 3-meter events in Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Georgia Southern diving team wrapped up competition at the 2017 Georgia Tech Fall Invitational on Friday, diving against some of the best competition in the Southeast in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events.

The Eagles competed against host Georgia Tech, Auburn, East Carolina. Florida State and Alabama during the two-day diving competition.

Thursday, the Eagles competed in the 1-meter preliminaries in the morning. Katie Knight led the Eagles with a 12th-place finish, scoring a 197.30 and missing a berth in the finals by two spots. Friday morning, the Eagles competed in the 3-meter preliminaries, and Sara Rogers led the way with a 218.20 score, missing a berth in the finals by just one spot.

"I thought the divers did well this weekend," GS Diving Coach David Giambra said. "The opponents were tough, but the girls competed well. We did a lot of small things well, which we have struggled with this season. The challenge now is to be consistent at practice and continue to do the small things in practice that will make them take giant leaps in competition."

The Eagle swimmers are currently competing in the Florida Tech Panther Invitational in Melbourne. The divers will return to action as a part of the Eagles' dual meet at Florida International on December 14th in Miami, Fla.
