Jacksonville, Fla. --- The Georgia Southern swim team placed third of three teams at the Osprey Beach Splash Invitational this past Friday and Saturday (October 10th-11th).
The Eagles progressively got stronger as the meet went on, but Friday evening started with multiple historic times. Both
Scout Chapin and
Grace Brunk nearly mirrored one another and set top-five times in the 50 Fly with a 26.12 and 26.13 respectively. Additionally,
Ieva Evaltaite and
Sarah Luskus broke into the top-five historically with both a 30.34 and 30.89 in the 50 Breast. In the 500 Free,
Victoria Santino and
Sterling Burd went for second and third, while the 400 Medley team finished out Friday night in fourth place.
On a chilly Saturday morning,
Morgan Wagner set a new PB in the 200 Free with her 1:55.32, dropping nearly a quarter of a second off her old best. The Eagles closed out Saturday morning with an electric 800 Free relay win as the squad of
Jamison Tiller,
Carsyn Cosman,
Calissa Kissinger and
Sterling Burd combined for a comeback win of 7:40.08. That afternoon, Chapin set a PB in the 100 IM with a 58.72 finish to place second while Burd would later win the 200 Fly with her mark of 2:05.25, an event she had not swam competitively for over two years. Southern would close out the meet with a second place finish in the 400 Free Relay, as Tiller, Cosman, Wagner and
Alyssa Ifill would finish at a 3:31.16.
The Eagles return back to Jacksonville for a head-to-head meet against the Ospreys of North Florida on Saturday, October 25th. The first event is set to start at 11 AM.
