STATESBORO, GA. – Georgia Southern Softball will host its 2015 summer softball camp on July 7-8 at Eagle Field in Statesboro. For more information and to register, visit GeorgiaSouthernSoftballCamps.com.
This is a camp designed to cover mechanics, skills, and dozens of drills to help improve play at the plate and in the field. The camp is designed to cover all aspects of the game. The participants will be divided based on age and ability so that everyone will get the most out of the camp.
The hitting portion of the camp will help improve power and consistency at the plate. Participants will learn all the basic fundamentals of hitting, plus advanced hitting techniques. Again, the athletes will be divided based on age and skill level to provide the best experience for each of the participants.
The defensive part of camp, including pitching and catching, is intended to provide athletes with various drills that will sharpen defensive mechanics and skills. The pitching and catching portion is designed to provide in-depth instruction so participants can learn all the basic fundamentals of either position. This camp will help both the athlete just learning the skills and the advanced softball player.
Each day of camp, participants will get to use the knowledge and fundamentals gained throughout the day to showcase their skills in organized scrimmages. This allows for a fun, competitive environment while also learning how to play and communicate in live game situations.
Camp is open to ages 7 through individuals who are seniors in high school.
Check in is set for 9 a.m. at the Georgia Southern Softball Complex which is located at 55 Fair Road on the campus of Georgia Southern University. Each day of the camp runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a break included to serve lunch which is included.
Campers can register for both days of the camp for $200, or come for just one day at $100. A discount is available for families sending more than one camper to the event.
Per NCAA rules, sports camps and clinics are open to any and all entrants (limited only by number, age, grade level, and/or gender). GSU does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, handicap/disability or veterans status.
