EAGLES AT A GLANCE
The Georgia Southern Eagles are 3-1 on a season-opening eight game homestand and have won 16 of their last 22 games dating back to April 27, 2014.
The Eagles fell for the first time in 2015 on Tuesday in a 7-4 loss to Georgia Tech.
Following the weekend series GS will wrap up the homestand against The Citadel (2/24) before traveling to North Florida (2/25) for their first road game of the season.
Evan Challenger will make his second-straight Friday night start. Challenger combined to shut out Bethune-Cookman in the season opener.
STORYLINES
Looking to get back in the win column, Georgia Southern hosts Big 12 foe West Virginia in a three-game series this weekend. The Eagles will also open the 2015 football season against the Mountaineers.
WVU opened their season with a series victory on the road at Clemson. The Mountaineers shut out the Tigers in the season opener and won the rubber match on Sunday.
GS is 14-5 all-time against the Mountaineers.
WVU has not visited Statesboro since 1992 and the two teams have not faced each other since 1996.
The Mountaineers were a regular participant in the United States Baseball Federation Hall of Fame Tournament held in Statesboro from 1979 to 1990.
The Eagles last played a team from the state of West Virginia when they played a home-and-home series (2010-11) with Marshall. GS went 3-2 against the Thundering Herd.
The Eagles have tallied 10 hits in each of the last two games and are averaging seven runs per game.
Kody Adams, Chase Griffin and Will Hudgins have all tallied a hit in all four games this season.
