
Eagles Ready To Compete In the CCSA Championships

Conference Championship Meet Begins Wednesday Feb. 18 at 6 p.m.
MEET CENTRAL
Statesboro, Ga. – The Georgia Southern swimming and diving team will begin competition in the Coastal Carolina Swimming Association Championship Wednesday Feb. 18 at 6 p.m. from the Gabrielsen Natatorium on the campus of University of Georgia in Athens. The 4 day meet will feature multiple sessions with preliminary sessions beginning at 10 a.m. each day and finals at 6 p.m. Live streaming and Live Results are available by clicking Meet Central above. Last year, Georgia Southern placed 3rd out of 13 teams with 423 points. Liberty won the Conference Championship with 732.5 points, and Florida Gulf Coast finished 2nd with 718.5 points.

"Our team is excited to get to Athens for the CCSA Championship. There are some tough teams in the CCSA, but we need to keep focused on ourselves and race like we have prepared it race. Our women and coaches have put in a tremendous amount of hard work through the year and we are eager to see it pay off."

"For both divers, this is their first conference meet so it will be great to see how they perform at this level. They are both prepared for the meet. They have been diving the best they have dove all season. I expect them to both have a great meet at conference."
Two Pool Records Set At Gardner-Webb
In a meet that historically has been very close, the Eagles claimed victory over Gardner-Webb 145.5-112.5. Lauren Campbell set a new pool record in the 200 fly with a time of 2:06.38 while teammate Christina Moran set the pool record in the 200 back in 2:05.07.
3 Eagles Invited To Compete At Winter Nationals
The exclusive Winter Nationals competition requires an invite based on specific cuts. This year, 3 Eagles were invited to compete. Elaina Lanson, Abigail Lavallin and Christina Moran did Georgia Southern justice on a national stage as they each achieved Top-100 showings. Lanson finished tied for 56th in the 50 free with a time of 23.73. Lavallin was 90th in the 100 breast in 1:05.81, while Moran touched in 2:01.78 in the 200 back to manage a 67th place finish.
50 Free Pool Record Set At RAC Aquatics Center On Senior Day
Elaina Lanson set the pool record in the final home meet of her career in the 50 free when she touched in 23.26. The previous record of 23.43 was set in 2012 by a swimmer from Florida Gulf Coast. With the record, Lanson bookended her career at the RAC Aquatics Center with pool records in the 50 free.
