Over 10 School Records Set Over The 4 Day Meet
Athens, Ga. – The Georgia Southern Swimming and Diving team finished 3rd at the Coastal Carolina Swimming Association Conference Championships. Day Four featured preliminaries and finals in the 1650 Free, 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Breast and 200 Fly.
Florida Gulf Coast was crowned conference champions as they finished with a team score of 1575. Liberty was 2nd with 1239. The Eagles finished with a team total of 1110. Gardner-Webb and Incarnate Word were 4th and 5th respectively with 1026 and 851 points.
"I thought we swam a great meet," said Head Coach Nate Kellogg. "On paper, coming in to the meet we were 5th, so to finish 3rd is just a testament to how hard these girls have worked all year. They are a great group of girls and are so easy to coach. We put ourselves in position to do well with how we swam in the preliminaries, and although we were a bit fatigued tonight, we got the job done."
In the 200 Back, Christina Moran set a school record during the preliminaries when she finished 5th with a time of 2:00.09. In the finals, Moran was 6th touching in 2:01.15. Teammate Sarah Schwartz finished 12th in 2:03.56
