Storylines: Former Southern Conference foes, College of Charleston and Georgia Southern, meet again as non-conference foes Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. These two teams have met 13 times over the past three seasons and the Cougars hold just a one-game edge in the all-times series. Both programs are off to hot starts and have 10 wins on the season. The Eagles are hitting .348 with a 2.86 ERA, while the Cougars are hitting .294 with a 2.73 ERA. The two teams have a number of connections on each others rosters, including former Milton High School pitchers Jason Richman and Steven Barranca, former Spartanburg Methodist teammates Jimmy Lindberg and Robbie Dodds and former Greenbrier High School teammates Ben Morgan and Blake Ross. These same two teams will meet again on April 16 in Statesboro.

The Eagles have 10 or more hits in all but three games this season and scored 20 runs for the second time this season on Sunday, the most 20 run games since 2009. Garrett Chapman holds a 12-game hit streak and has tallied a hit in every game this season. Dalton Busby has reached base in 10-straight games.
College of Charleston: The College of Charleston is off to a 10-1 start with their only loss coming against #12 North Carolina. The Cougars went 4-0 last week with wins over Charlotte and a series sweep of Marist. The Cougars lead the CAA in batting average, on base percentage and are second in the league in ERA. Blake Butler is hitting .447 with 11 runs scored at the top of the lineup and went three for four with a RBI on Sunday.
Who's Hot: Aaron Mizell was named the SoCon's Player of the Week after going seven for 16 with seven RBI over a four game week. Mizell homered three times on Sunday with two coming in the 20-5 win over Ohio. ... Carl Wise leads the Cougars with 16 RBI this season and plated two runs with a double in the third inning of Sunday's 7-0 win over Marist.

Eric Alonzo is 0-0 with a 1.17 ERA in four appearances this season. He has allowed just two runs on four hits over 7.2 innings and has struck out six batters while holding opponents to a .148 batting average. Alonzo tossed two scoreless frames and struck out two in his last outing on Saturday against SIUE. He allowed a run and walked three batters in his lone start of the year against Georgia Tech.
Hayden McCutcheon is 1-0 with a 1.04 ERA in five outings this season. He holds two of the Cougars' five saves and has struck out nine batters in 8.2 innings. McCutcheon held Charlotte to one run on four hits and struck out five batters in a 5-2 victory over Charlotte in his lone start of the year. He retired two batters in Saturday's 7-3 win over Marist.

Georgia Southern went 3-1 on the weekend, dropping the opener 3-2 to Ohio before winning three-straight against Southern Illinois Edwardsville and Ohio. After scoring just two runs on Friday night, the Eagles scored 42 runs over the next three games and capped the weekend with six home runs in a 20-5 victory over Ohio. The six homer outing was their first since a 20-8 against the College of Charleston in 2009 and the 20 run output was their second of the season.
