STATESBORO, GA.- Georgia Southern men's tennis was defeated this afternoon by Appalachian State, 5-2. The Eagles' record drops to 2-3 in the SoCon and 3-13 overall.
In doubles play, Albert Codina Sala and Marco Osorio earned a win in the No. 3 position, defeating Jan-Willem Kleynhans and Jack Maddocks, 8-5. The Eagles did not secure any more doubles wins, giving the advantage to the Mountaineers.
At No. 4 singles, Marco Osorio earned the first point for the Eagles by beating Zach Bost, 6-2, 6-4. Kyle Hoffman was defeated at No. 2 singles by Oliver Casey, 6-3, 6-2. Nico DeGroof fell in the No. 5 position to Jack Maddocks, 7-5, 6-3. Rafael Racy was upset by Jan-Willem Kleynhans at No. 6 singles, 5-7, 6-4, 6-1. In the No. 3 singles spot, Albert Codina Sala dropped to Daniel Hoang 7-5, 6-3. Earning the second point for the Eagles in the No. 1 spot, Oliver Webb overcame Sebastien King, 2-6, 7-6, 6-4.
The Eagles face Elon University at the Wallis Tennis Center on Tuesday, March 25th at 2pm.
