FALL PREVIEW: Busy Slate For Eagles Begins With Pair Of Tournaments This Week

Georgia Southern opens play in Columbia, S.C., and Jacksonville, Fla.; six events in all ahead for GS this Fall
STATESBORO - Georgia Southern men's tennis takes to the courts for the first time with a pair of tournaments this week, beginning a busy Fall slate that sees six tournaments of action for the Pirates.
Second-year Willy Mirarchi will participate in the Columbia 15k ITF event in South Carolina, which begins on Monday, while six other Eagles will be traveling to Jacksonville, Fla., to take part in the UNF Invitational on September 25-27. This includes three returners - Gregoire Delattre, Albert Saar and Albert Widell - as well as the three freshman who joined the team this Fall in Charles de Saint Laumer, Amar Huseinovic and Oliver Pettigrove.
The busy Fall slate continues in October with three other tournaments. The Eagles will visit Macon, Ga., for the Mercer Gridiron Classic on October 2-4, then take part in the annual ITA Regionals on October 14-18, hosted by Georgia Tech. Another trip back up to Atlanta for the Georgia Tech Invitational will start on October 30.
Georgia Southern will wrap up the Fall slate in Rome, Ga., at the Rome Tennis Center and the site of the Sun Belt Conference Championships on November 5-8 for the ITA Masters event. That same weekend, selected Eagles will also participate at the ITA Sectionals hosted by the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla.
In all, the Eagles will have eight on the squad in 2026-27, featuring five returners and three incoming first-year players. Head coach Andrew Goodwin also has a new assistant coach joining the squad this season in former Ferris State standout Alessandro Santangelo.
