Purvis Earns Second-Straight SoCon Pitcher of the Week Award

Warner-Robins native earns sixth career SoCon weekly award
STATESBORO, GA. – With a 2-1 showing at the FIU Classic, Sarah Purvis has earned her second-straight SoCon Pitcher of the Week award. The weekly award is the sixth for Purvis in her career, moving into a tie for fourth in most SoCon Pitcher of the Week honors all-time.
Purvis went 2-1 last weekend, picking up victories against the defending Big Ten (Wisconsin) and Atlantic Sun (FGCU) Conference Champions. She tossed a shutout against Wisconsin to open the weekend and hand the Badgers their first loss of the season.
In game two of the weekend, Purvis pitched a two-hitter en route to a 6-2 Georgia Southern win over Florida Gulf Coast. In the FIU Classic Championship Game, Purvis held the FIU Panthers to five hits and two runs, but came out on the short-end of the 2-0 line.
This weekend the Eagles travel to Gainesville, Fla., site of last season's NCAA Tournament trip. Georgia Southern faces Coastal Carolina, Troy, Indiana and undefeated Florida in the Lipton Invitational.
