Sarah Purvis Named SoCon Pitcher of the Week

Senior hurler earns her fifth career SoCon weekly honor
STATESBORO, Ga. – Senior pitcher Sarah Purvis has been named SoCon Pitcher of the Week for her work in the pitching circle in the Eagle Round Robin Tournament. The Warner-Robins, Ga. native earned her fifth SoCon Pitcher of the Week honor.
Purvis opened the weekend with an outstanding outing against the No. 1 ranked Tennessee Volunteers. She held the Vols to four hits and allowed one run in the loss. Purvis also struck out 10 batters as she posted double-digit strikeouts for the 14th time in her career.
She recorded her first win of the weekend with a five-inning three-hitter against Northern Colorado in the final game of the weekend tournament. She allowed one run in the game and struck out six batters to close out the first weekend of the season.
For the season, Purvis has a 1-1 overall record and a 1.17 ERA with 16 strikeouts.
The Eagles travel this weekend to the FIU Classic in Miami, Fla. Tournament play begins on Friday morning at 11 a.m. against Wisconsin.
