¦ The Eagles are 4-2 in their last six and are coming off a 68-59 win at Appalachian State Monday evening.
¦ Georgia Southern is 3-5 at home this season and 2-3 in home league games.
¦ Anna Claire Knight ranks third in the SoCon and leads GSU in scoring at 15.5 points a game. The junior has scored in double figures in 17 of the last 18 outings. She recorded the first triple-double in program history and the 11th in the country this season with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists at Samford Jan. 6.
¦ MiMi DuBose, who is averaging 11.1 points a contest, hit four 3-pointers at App Jan. 27 to become the school's career leader in triples. DuBose scored 16 points at Chattanooga Jan. 4 to top the 1,000-point mark for her career. She played in her 100th career contest vs. Davidson Jan. 18.
¦ Senior Danielle Spencer is leading the SoCon in rebounding with 8.7 a game and is 11 boards shy of becoming the 18th Eagle in school history to top the 500 mark for her career.
¦ Senior Lacie Dowling averages eight points a game, and sophomore Briana Jones is averaging 7.8 points and 8.0 rebounds and has four double-doubles this season.
¦ Picked second in the SoCon Preseason Polls, Samford has been snakebitten this season, losing two upperclassman starters to injury in Taylor Reece and Shelby Campbell.
¦ Eleven of Samford's 12 available players are freshmen or sophomores.
¦ Despite the setbacks, the Bulldogs have won two of their last three. Samford has not played since Jan. 25, when they fell 63-50 in a hard-fought contest at league leader Chattanooga.
¦ Christy Robinson leads the team in scoring with 8.5 points. Freshman Hannah Nichols averages 7.9 points and four rebounds, and classmate Ellen Riggins averages 7.5 points and 3.4 boards.
¦ The Bulldogs attempt 19.5 3-pointers a game and shoot 31 percent from long distance. Nichols shoots 42 percent from behind the arc.

Series History
¦ Samford leads the all-time series, which began in the 2008-09 season when the Bulldogs joined the Southern Conference, 8-3.
¦ The Bulldogs have won four of the last six in the series, but the Eagles have won the last two. Both have been decided by three points or less.
¦ Last meeting (1/6/14): Anna Claire Knight recorded the first triple-double in Georgia Southern women's basketball history with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Eagles to a 64-61 victory in the Pete Hanna Center.
¦ Knight broke a 59-59 tie when she drove to the bucket, laid it in and drew a foul with 1:01 to go. The junior made the free throw to put the Eagles up three. Hannah Nichols drew a foul on the Bulldogs' trip down the floor to make it a 62-61 game with 50 seconds left.
¦ After an Eagle timeout, Knight's jumper from the right wing rimmed out with 24 seconds left, but Sierra Kirkland was there to collect the offensive rebound. The Bulldogs were forced to foul MiMi DuBose with 16 seconds left, and the senior calmly sank both free throws to make the score 64-61. Ellen Riggins put up a frantic 3-point try as the buzzer sounded, but the ball sailed out of bounds.
¦ It was the Eagles' first win at the Pete Hanna Center, where the Bulldogs have averaged 12 wins a season since the building opened in 2007.
¦ Lacie Dowling scored 16 points for the Eagles and hit 5-of-6 from behind the arc. DuBose, who played only 22 minutes because of foul trouble, scored eight, and Danielle Spencer tallied eight points and five rebounds.
¦ Nichols led the Bulldogs with 16 points, and Krista Stricklin tallied 12 points, seven boards and three assists off the bench. Shelby Campbell scored 11, and Lydia McGee netted nine.
¦ The Eagles trailed by 10 points following a Stricklin free throw with 7:20 to play, but DuBose sparked a 14-4 Georgia Southern run with a triple. Knight scored seven points during the stretch, and Dowling added a four-point play as the senior was fouled while sinking a long 3-pointer.
¦ A Spencer layup off a Knight assist gave the Eagles a 59-56 lead with 1:30 to go, but Nichols answered with a triple from the top of the key on the other end to tie the score.
¦ Last meeting in Hanner (2/16/13): Meredyth Frye hit two free throws with 3.9 seconds left, and Hannah Dawson's long 3-point try as the buzzer sounded came up short as Georgia Southern defeated Samford 52-51 in Hanner Fieldhouse.
¦ Frye scored the last seven points of the game for the Eagles, who overcame a 42-35 deficit with 7:04 left in the game. With GSU trailing 47-45, Frye hit a triple from the top of the key and after Taylor Reece scored on a layup for Samford, Frye blew past two Bulldogs with a nifty shot fake and got to the hoop for a layup that gave the Eagles a 50-49 lead with 39.5 seconds left.
¦ Jazmine Martin drove baseline on Samford's trip down the floor, was fouled and made her free throws with 26.9 seconds left. After a Georgia Southern timeout with 11 seconds remaining, Frye got the ball at the top of the key, drove right, got fouled and had her runner kiss off the glass and roll off the front of the rim. The senior calmly knocked down two free throws for the 52-51 win.
¦ Frye finished with 17 points and three steals. Knight scored 10 and dished out seven assists, and DuBose netted nine points.
¦ Martin led Samford with a game-high 19 points, and Dawson scored 13.
¦ The Eagles forced 20 Samford turnovers and scored 23 points off the miscues while committing just 13. GSU shot 29 percent from the floor but canned 16-of-18 from the charity stripe.
