Eagles Get Back to Work with Trip to USF

Men’s Basketball returns to the hardwood following 13-day break for finals on ESPN3

STATESBORO, Ga. – After a 13-day break for final exams, Georgia Southern basketball returns to action on Monday night with a trip to South Florida. The Eagles face the Bulls for the fifth time in series history at 7 p.m. on ESPN3. The Eagles enter the contest at 4-2 on the season entering the final three non-conference games of the season.

WIEDEMAN NEARING 1,000
Trent Wiedeman joined Georgia Southern with 893 career points after three seasons at College of Charleston. He has opened this season with 14.5 points per game and needs just 20 more points to reach 1,000 career points.

HEWITT MOVES INTO TOP-20
In the Eagles' loss to UCF on December 2nd, Jelani Hewitt moved into the top-20 in career scoring at Georgia Southern. He now sits in a tie for 18th with 1,393 career points.

BUSSEY EARNS SPOT IN NBADL
Former Eagle Tre Bussey was named to the NBADL's Idaho Stampede recently. Bussey was picked in the first round of the NBADL draft. Through the season's first eight games, Bussey has scored 10.1 ppg with two games started. He is also shooting 37% from downtown.

EAGLES COMMIT TO REBOUNDING
Georgia Southern has made a commitment to rebounding this year and won the battle of the glass in four of the first five games. The Eagles out-rebounded Illinois by nine and FIU by seven despite being undersized in both games.

CAREER HIGHS FOR HEWITT IN OPENER
Jelani Hewitt opened his senior season with a pair of career-highs in the loss at Illinois. He recorded eight assists, one better than his previous career high set last year. Hewitt also attempted 14 three-pointers, the seventh-best single game total in school history.
