Brian Pierce Named SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Georgia Southern senior shortstop Brian Pierce (Roswell/Roswell) was named Southern Conference ?Student-Athlete of the Week'. The league office announced the award on Wednesday (April 22). It marks the first SoCon weekly academic award for Pierce.
Pierce helped the 28th-ranked Eagles to a 4-0 mark at home last week, including a SoCon sweep of Davidson. He went 9-for-13 at the plate, drove in five runs, scored four times and knocked three doubles. He matched a season-high recording a 3-hit game in every contest during the weekend. Pierce was also perfect in 24 fielding attempts. In his career he has played in 207 games and owns a .952 all-time fielding percentage.
Scheduled to graduate in May magna cum laude, Pierce owns a 3.80 GPA majoring in Finance.
The Eagles (29-9 overall, 12-4 SoCon) return to Southern Conference play this weekend, traveling to The Citadel for a three-game series. First pitch on Friday night is scheduled for 6 p.m.
