Eagles Return Home to Face Kennesaw State

STATESBORO, Ga. ? Following a six-game road trip that covered nearly 10 days, the Georgia Southern baseball team returns to J.I. Clements Stadium on Tuesday night (March 24) to play host to Kennesaw State. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Every baseball game can be heard on www.GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com and via the Georgia Southern Radio Network, flagship station Eagle 102.9 FM in Statesboro. Ryan Chambers will call the game and the broadcast will begin 30 minutes before first pitch.
Tuesday's game is also Restaurant Night. Representatives from: Emma's, Uncle Shugs, Papa John's Pizza, Sonny's BBQ, and Applebee's will be on hand, giving away FREE food and coupons.
The Eagles (16-4 overall) are off to their best 20-game start to a season since the 1974 campaign, including a 12-1 mark at home. Following Tuesday's game, Georgia Southern travels to South Carolina on Wednesday night (March 25).
Griffin Benedict (Dunwoody/St. Pius) leads the hitting attack at a .412 clip with 21 runs scored and a .523 on-base percentage. He also leads the SoCon getting hit by nine pitches. Kevin Bowles (Statesboro/Statesboro) is hitting .372 with 16 runs scored, five doubles and a .533 on-base percentage.
Ty Wright (Montrose/ABAC) has scored 19 runs, driven in 18 and leads the team with 6-of-7 stolen bases. As a team, the Eagles are hitting .301 with a Southern Conference-leading .974 fielding percentage and 4.00 ERA (second-best in SoCon).
Sophomore Andy Moye (Alpharetta/Alpharetta) is scheduled to get the start. He is 3-0 with a 4.71 ERA in 21 innings, striking out 17 to nine walks.
The Owls (9-9 overall) own a .288 team batting average, .953 fielding percentage and a 5.34 ERA. Curtis Van Wyck carries a team-leading .353 batting average and shares the lead with eight doubles.
This weekend Georgia Southern will play host to Elon in a three-game SoCon series. Saturday's game is the first of two that will be televised live on Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast, first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. The Eagles will also be on CSS Sunday, May 17th versus Wofford.
