ATHENS, Ga. ? The Georgia Southern women's tennis team has concluded day two of the ITA Southeast Regional after the competition was moved indoors due to poor weather conditions. Only doubles was contested on Friday and play was moved indoors to the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Courts.
The Eagles played doubles yesterday against Gullickson and Hyndman of University of Georgia and lost (8-0).
“They are the number one seed and one of the top teams in the country, so they were tough,” said head coach Amy Bonner. “It is now just single elimination in doubles.”
This morning (Oct. 25) sophomore Ali Beavers (Kingsport, Tenn.) played Daniela Vuckadinovic of Auburn in the "B" Singles and won 6-2, 6-1. Beavers played again in single elimination against Lindsey Mallory (Samford) and won 6-2, 6-7(5).
Junior Kristi Kegerreis (Fairfax, Va.) lost today in her match against Monika Dancevic of Georgia.
“I am extremely proud of Kristi and Ali's performance this weekend,” said Bonner. “Ali fought really hard.”
Beavers is set to play Sunday at 10 a.m. with two rounds of singles prior to the doubles semifinal round.
