Georgia Southern returns to action on Friday, hosting South Carolina State
ATLANTA - Georgia State collected a 4-0 victory over visiting Georgia Southern on Sunday in the first Sun Belt match of the season for both squads.
The Panthers improve to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the league with the victory, while the Eagles fall to 2-5 overall and 0-1. Georgia Southern will return to action on Friday, hosting South Carolina State in a 1 p.m. match from the Wallis Tennis Center.
Georgia State earned the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. The Eagles' duo of Mackenzie Leopold and Evelyn Warkentin picked up a 6-2 win over Sveva Bernardi and Sara Radojevic at No. 2 doubles.
In singles, the Panthers clinched the victory with straight set singles wins at the top three singles spots.
