Women's Tennis Completes Day One at Southern Intercollegiate Championships

COLUMBIA, S.C. ? The
Georgia Southern women's
tennis team was successful in two of their five doubles matches on day one of
the Southern Intercollegiate Championships in Columbia, S.C.,
on Friday.
In the C-2 doubles flight, the tandem of Emma Knight (Duluth, Ga.) and Kelli Helms (Cairo, Ga.) were successful defeating Julia Howard and Jessica Tuckman from the College of Charleston 8-3. Georgia Southern's duo of Shea Huxtable (Winter Springs, Fla.) and Jessica Fuller (Cartersville, Ga.) dropped Katie Holmes and Hannah Howerton of Erskine College 8-6 in day one of competition.
Due to persistent rain throughout the day, only one round of doubles matches was completed at the USC Indoor Fieldhouse. One round of doubles is scheduled for Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. followed by two rounds of singles. On Sunday, the final round of doubles is set for 8:30 a.m. followed by two rounds of main-draw singles matches and one round of consolation matches.
