Rolle and Beavers Claim Title to Conclude North Florida Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Georgia Southern doubles duo of Melanie Rolle (Gainesville, Fla.) and Ali Beavers (Kingsport, Tenn.) claimed the “A” doubles consolation title on Sunday, concluding the North Florida Invitational, which was held in Jacksonville, Fla.

The tandem of Rolle and Beavers started off the day in the semifinal match where they squared off against Jeneice Ward and Monika Musoliva of Bethune Cookman. After knocking off the Bethune Cookman squad, Beavers and Rolle cruised to the victory shutting down Stetson's Katherine Nowicki and Breanna Atkinson 8-4 to earn the championship.

Rolle also competed in the semifinal match of the “A” singles consolation flight on Sunday. The freshman faced off against Vanessa Sanchez from host school North Florida. Rolle gave Sanchez all she could handle, but was defeated in straight sets losing to the eventual champion 6-4, 7-6.

The Eagles will hit the court next weekend in Athens, Ga. for the ITA Fall Regionals, beginning October 18.
