Keegan Smith is entering his fourth year as Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach at Georgia Southern, where he oversees all aspects of strength and conditioning for the Eagles' volleyball and softball programs while directing sports science initiatives for volleyball through the use of Kinexon technology to monitor athlete performance, workload, and recovery. In his first season working with Georgia Southern softball, the Eagles doubled their home run total from the previous year. Under Smith's direction, four Georgia Southern volleyball student-athletes earned All-Sun Belt Conference honors in 2025, while three softball student-athletes received All-Sun Belt Conference recognition in 2026. During his first two years at Georgia Southern, Smith worked with the women's basketball and rifle programs. The rifle team captured the 2024 Southern Conference Championship and produced multiple All-Americans, while the women's basketball program earned multiple Sun Belt Conference Tournament victories in the same season for the first time in program history.
Prior to joining Georgia Southern, Smith served as Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach at Longwood University during the 2022-23 academic year. There, he was responsible for women's basketball, softball, and women's lacrosse. During his tenure, the Longwood softball team captured the 2023 Big South Conference regular season championship, while producing the conference Player of the Year as well as a Golden Glove Award winner. Additionally, a member of the women's lacrosse program earned Big South Freshman of the Year honors.
Before Longwood, Smith worked at Louisiana Tech from 2021-22, directing strength and conditioning for the softball and track & field programs while assisting with men's and women's basketball and volleyball. The 2022 Louisiana Tech softball team won the Conference USA regular season championship and featured the league's Freshman of the Year.
Smith began his full-time collegiate coaching career after serving as a graduate assistant at Jacksonville State from 2019-21. In that role, he assisted with football while directing strength and conditioning for volleyball, women's soccer, and track & field. The Gamecocks claimed the Ohio Valley Conference spring football championship in 2021.
Prior to Jacksonville State, Smith completed a strength and conditioning internship with the University of Alabama football program during the 2018-19 season. Alabama won the SEC Championship and advanced to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, with numerous members of that team later advancing to NFL careers.
A native of Prattville, Alabama, Smith earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from the University of Alabama and a master's degree in Sport Management from Jacksonville State University. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and is CPR certified.
