Last season, the Eagles were able to double their Sun Belt Conference win total from the previous year and made plenty of strides both on and off the court, giving fans plenty to look forward to heading into the 2016-17 season. GS went 7-22 and 4-16 in league action including wins over rivals Georgia State and Appalachian State. The Eagles went 1-1 in overtime games and had eight of their conference losses decide by 10 or fewer points, including five by five or fewer points.

Following the season, junior guard Angel McGowan was named to the Sun Belt All-Conference Second Team – the first Georgia Southern women’s basketball player to earn Sun Belt All-Conference plaudits – after averaging 14.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.1 steals per game. McGowan scored her 1,000th career point in the Eagles’ final game of the season and was in the top-10 of the conference in multiple offensive categories.

Fox previously played for head coach Kip Drown at Colorado State University – Pueblo from 2010-14 where she amassed 779 career points – including 414 as a senior – and garnered All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) first team honors. As a junior, she was named to the Academic All-RMAC team.

A guard for the Thunderwolves, Fox appeared in 104 games in her career, starting 36 – including all 31 as a senior during the 2013-14 campaign. For her career, she shot .364 (273-749) from the field and hit on 29.5% (105-356) of her three-pointers. She was also a 64.0% (128-200) career free throw shooter. After exhausting her eligibility on the basketball court, Fox utilized her fifth year of eligibility to play volleyball for the Thunderwolves.

Fox is the daughter of Craig and Maryann Fox, who still live in California, and she has five siblings: Adam, Logan, Clark, Madison and McKinley.
