Eagles Explode Offensively, Run-Rule Buccaneers 18-4

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the top of the first, a walk issued to a Buccaneer, followed by an errant pick-off throw resulted in a run to come across after a groundout plated him to make it 1-0 early.
- The Eagles responded by matching their most amount of runs in the opening frame with their four, as the first four Eagles reached aboard. It all concluded with a three-run homer from Bryson Trammell to right-center to grab three RBIs for him.
- Each squad had a 1-2-3 frame in the second.
- In the bottom of the third, Southern found themselves with two in scoring position early with a walk and Trammell double. Sean White and Jack Myers each brought one home with a single and fielder's choice, respectively, to make it 6-1.
- After another 1-2-3 frame for the Bucs, the Eagles exploded for five runs in their fourth. Three consecutive hits from Trammell, White and Jonatahn Jaime gave the Eagles a double-digit, 11-1 lead through four.
- Despite a Brady Christman triple on a ball that nearly left the yard, both squads could not muster a run in the fifth.
- In the top of the sixth, the Buccaneers started to claw back by using a walk, multiple stolen bases and three hits to get three home and make it an 11-4 contest.
- The bottom of the frame saw Southern eclipse their most runs in a half inning this season, plating seven in their sixth. The first eight Eagles reached aboard safely without recording an out.
- Back-to-back errors on CSU to start the frame scored one and put two Eagles in scoring position before a walk loaded the bags. Bennett Edwards sliced a two-RBI double down the left field line before McCoy followed suit with a double in the same direction to also clear the bases. The inning was capped off with a Christman homer to right-center, giving the Eagles a 14-run advantage.
- Jax Lewis entered for Southern on the mound to shut the door, and he did just that, forcing two groundouts and a flyout on just four pitches to close the night.
NOTES:
- .Brady Christman launched his tenth homer of the season on the night, becoming just the fifth freshman in program history to go for double digit homers in a season.
- Will Holder got his second career win, matching his longest outing of five innings. He gave up just one hit, while his only run allowed was unearned.
- Trammell had a five-RBI night with his homer and double, becoming the second Eagle to collect that many this season since McCoy did it on March 8th against Tennessee Tech.
- Jonathan Jaime quietly had a three-hit night with an RBI, the senior's first career trio-hit night.
- The 18 runs on the night matches the most this season by the squad, tying the near-20 runs against Marshall on March 22nd in the 18-12 victory.
UP NEXT:
- The Eagles turn around for another midweek tomorrow night (April 29th) on the road at Mercer. First pitch in Macon is set for 6 PM.
