HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Eagles once again got the opening lead after a two-out solo shot from Brady Christman that went 430 feet off the batter's eye.
- In the Eagle second, a single up the middle from Jack Myers saw him score and put Southern up two after Nico Senese's double down the left line.
- App got the run back the following frame as two walks put two on with two away. Evans' single to center plated one, halving their deficit.
- The Eagles responded once again to start the third as James McCoy launched another 430-plus homer, this time to left field, to make it 3-1.
- However, the Mountaineers' bats got hot the following inning as three hits, all RBI knocks, plated three for the home squad, making it 4-3.
- The Mountaineers scored one in each of the fourth and fifth innings, as two RBI groundouts made it 6-3 after five.
- In the bottom of the sixth, App was walked a total of five times in the half inning. One of them was with the bags loaded to make it 7-3. However, a double play earlier in the inning and a groundout with the bases still loaded stranded three Mountaineers.
- The Eagles managed to keep the Mountaineers quiet by retiring six straight to move into the ninth.
- In that top of the ninth, a leadoff single from Sean White followed by a double from Jack Myers put both in scoring position with none away. However, an unlucky low line drive to the shortstop a batter later caught White off-guard as App got the double play, extinguishing the rally.
NOTES:
- Both Christman and McCoy's homers early in the contest marked their ninth of the season as they race to become the first Eagle with double digits homers on the year. They both also extended their hit streaks to 13 and 14, respectively.
- On the mound, Jax Lewis had a great outing out of the pen, throwing 2.1 scoreless frames. He only gave up one hit and a walk, while fanning a pair of Mountaineers.
- Myers quietly went for a two-hit afternoon, including his ninth double of 2026 in the ninth.
UP NEXT:
- The Eagles return home to start their five-game week with a contest against Charleston Southern on Tuesday (April 28th) for 912 Night at J.I. First pitch against the Buccaneers is set for 6 PM
